PALOS VERDES, CA — As February approaches, there are several ways to volunteer or join a guided walk with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy.

Here are ways to get involved and participate:

  • Join a Guided Nature Walk at George F Canyon with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, February 5th, 10:30am. You will be guided by a trained naturalist to discover a unique variety of wildlife in their canyon habitat with amazing views of the LA Basin. Meet on the back patio of the George F Canyon Nature Center, 27305 Palos Verdes Drive East, Rolling Hills Estates, CA 90274. No RSVP required. Rain cancels.
  • Nature Walk at Abalone Cove Reserve guided by the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, February 12th, 1pm. Situated between Portuguese Point and Inspiration Point, the secluded Sacred Cove features wonderful rock formations edged with tide pools and a channel into a sea cave. Moderate to strenuous.   • Outdoor Volunteer Day at Abalone Cove Reserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, February 5th and Feburary 26th, 9am – 12pm. Join the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy to volunteer at the newest restoration site on a breathtaking coastal reserve helping eradicate invasive weeds to protect native species.   • Outdoor Volunteer Day at Alta Vicente Reserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, February 12th, 9am – 12pm. Come help us to restore habitat on the 22-acre restoration site to create a home for rare cactus wrens and gnatcatchers with beautiful views of Catalina Island.   • Outdoor Volunteer Day at White Point Nature Preserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, February 19th, 9am – 12pm. Get outdoors and make a difference by helping the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy remove invasive grasses to enable rare coastal sage scrub habitat to thrive as a home of local native plants and wildlife.   • Family Nature Club: Whales, Saturday February 26th, 9am. Join the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy for the next Virtual Family Nature Club as we swim into the topic of whales! We’ll learn about our local migrating whales and do a whale-ly fun craft. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.   • PVP Land Conservancy Rapid Response Team, Fridays and Saturdays, 9am – 12pm. Work alongside the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy staff around the Palos Verdes Nature Preserve to help protect important wildlife habitat.
