As of noon Wednesday, April 8, 2020, there were at least 891 documented cases of the novel coronavirus in South Bay communities, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.

Between Tuesday and Wednesday, there were 91 new cases in the South Bay area.

The South Bay communities with the most cases of COVID-19 are Torrance with 111, Carson with 104, and Inglewood with 92.

Outside of the South Bay, communities in the Long Beach area have a total of 716 cases.

Numbers for Long Beach are provided by that city’s health department. Other numbers are from LA County.

There could be more cases in any of these areas. The county is still investigating 732 possible COVID-19 cases and hasn’t yet released information on where those patients live in the county.

And due to the limited availability of COVID-19 tests, officials have said there are many more people infected with the novel coronavirus than are represented in these numbers.

As of noon Wednesday across Los Angeles County, the health departments of LA County and the cities of Pasadena and Long Beach have recorded 7,573 confirmed cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.

Of the 7,573 patients with positive COVID-19 tests, 1,714 have been hospitalized.

There have been 200 deaths in the county due to the virus.

For complete totals, check the health department’s coronavirus location page at http://publichealth.lacounty.gov/media/Coronavirus/locations.htm and the city of Long Beach’s coronavirus page.
